Brainstorm domain-first brand ideas with clarity, memorability, and TLD suggestions.
How to Shape a Domain-First Name
If your brand starts on the internet, the domain name is often the first version of your brand that people see. A simple framework can help you pick options that are easy to share and hard to forget.
1. Decide What Must Be in the Name
List the 1–2 words that really need to appear in the domain—core product, audience, or a key benefit. Everything else is optional decoration.
2. Keep It Easy to Say and Spell
Say the domain out loud as if you are reading it on a podcast. Avoid names that are hard to spell when heard once, or that rely on confusing letter swaps and missing vowels.
3. Choose TLDs With Intention
.com is still powerful, but many modern brands use .io, .co, .ai, .dev, and other TLDs. Match the extension to your space and tone instead of chasing availability at all costs.
4. Check for Mix-Ups and Collisions
Look for similar domains that might cause confusion. Search for existing companies or charities with nearly identical names, especially in your industry and region.
5. Shortlist a Few Strong Contenders
Keep a list of 3–5 domains you would actually be happy to use. For each, write a quick note on why it works—clarity, memorability, and room for brand growth.
